I especially like this line: &lt;i&gt; How can we expect to teach children to appreciate and respect the differences in others if we don’t appreciate, respect, and, at least, try to understand those differences amongst ourselves. &lt;/i&gt;

That&#039;s one of the reasons why I like what technology can do in education... it allows students to &lt;b&gt;differentiate&lt;/b&gt; the learning for themselves, it lets students &lt;b&gt;take charge&lt;/b&gt; of their own learning, and it gives students the power to &lt;b&gt;extend their learning&lt;/b&gt; into interests beyond the classroom.

		<description>I never knew where the quote came from, and had never seen it (in all my 31 years)until I saw it covering a wall at the entrance of my son&#039;s school.  I felt as if both of us had come home.  Let&#039;s not forget that these &quot;misfits&quot; grow up and are forced to conform to other ideas/values.  They are persecuted and misunderstood in every profession including teaching.  How can we expect to teach children to appreciate and respect the differences in others if we don&#039;t appreciate, respect, and, at least, try to understand those differences amongst ourselves.  Different is not a threat or a lack of intelligence...it is, put quite simply, difference.  It is what makes the world what it is, and how we learn from each other.  The thinkers are often stifled in the workplace in an attempt to force them to conform and &quot;break&#039; them.  There are some horses, like people who cannot be broken, because, if they are, so is their spirit.</description>
