Another teacher and I used this activity with our 6/7 classes to start our Holocaust unit. As we're going through the <a href="http://college.usc.edu/vhi/pyramidofhate/vhfmain.htm" title="Pyramid of Hate" rel="nofollow"> activity (from the Shoah Foundation) and discuss how the Jewish people were treated differently in Europe, we refer back to the different relationships between the candy cultures and discuss how quickly they decided which cultures they were able to communicate with easily and which ones they thought were, in their words, "weird."
